DIY Rose Lip Balm

This tutorial is for a homemade natural lip balm, scented with rose essential oil. You could always use another oil like lavender or geranium since rose can be a bit pricey.

This lip balm will make a perfect gift for mother’s day, and is a small batch recipe which will yield two 0.15 oz lip balm tubes.

What you will need:

  • Coconut oil (cosmetic grade or virgin)
  • Yellow beeswax (I used pastilles)
  • Shea butter
  • Rose essential oil
  • Lip balm tubes or metal tins
  • Microwave safe measuring cup
  • teaspoon

ingredients

Step 1: measure out your beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter 1tsp of each.

teaspoon

Step 2: Add to microwave safe measuring cup.

Step 3: Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until contents are completely melted.

Step 4: Let cool for a couple seconds and add your essential oil. I added 6 drops. Make sure to stir the contents.

Step 5: Carefully pour the liquid into your containers. If you spill some down the sides wipe it up now, it’ll make your life so much easier.

Now just let your lip balm cool down for an hour or so and it’s ready to use. You can even make a pretty personalized label just for the person you’re gifting them too.
